Rebecca Cooney is the Clinical Director and founding therapist at Moxie Mental Health, committed to guiding clients toward lasting emotional wellbeing through compassionate, trauma-informed care.

With nearly a decade of experience as a licensed mental health professional, Rebecca helps individuals harness their inner resilience — their “moxie” — to navigate difficult experiences and reclaim their lives with strength and clarity.

Her therapeutic approach integrates evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness practices, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She emphasizes safety, human connection, and healing at the client’s pace, combining clinical rigor with warmth, humor, and empathy.

Rebecca works with adolescents and adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, grief or loss, self-esteem or identity struggles, emotional dysregulation, and relational or family conflict. She is also experienced working with clients facing abuse, PTSD, or the legacy of past trauma — offering a therapeutic space where clients are seen, heard, and supported holistically.

Dedicated to holistic healing, Rebecca draws from her background in yoga, mindfulness, and mind–body healing, believing in the interconnection of mind, body, and spirit as fundamental to recovery.

Rebecca offers telehealth sessions (for clients in Maryland) and aims to create a safe, affirming, culturally humble environment.
